Privacy Policy
Flural requires no account and collects no reading telemetry. By default nothing about what you read, how you read it, or what is in your library leaves your device. This policy explains the exceptions — all of them ones you choose.

What stays on your device
Your documents, library, collections, notes, reading position, settings and the pages Flural has already recognised and translated all stay on your iPhone or iPad. Documents are opened where they are and never copied to us.
Deleting a book from your library removes its translations, notes and settings. Deleting the app removes everything.
On-device translation
Apple LLM and the word-by-word dictionary process text on your device without sending it online. Apple translation language packs are downloaded from Apple when needed.
When text leaves your device
Text is sent online only when you choose Flural Cloud for a book and agree to share it. You can withdraw that permission in the app.
Flural Cloud
The text being translated is sent over an encrypted connection to Flural's server, which passes it to Google Gemini. Flural does not store or log that text or its translation.
Google processes it under the terms of its paid API: it is not used to train Google's models, but Google may keep prompts and responses for a limited time to detect abuse and meet legal obligations, and may process them in other countries.
What Flural's server keeps
To run Flural Cloud, the server keeps an anonymous device identifier created by Apple's App Attest (not your name, email or Apple ID), your purchase and subscription records, your credit balance, and a log of when each request happened and how many credits it used. It keeps no record of what you translated.
IP addresses are used only to limit abuse and are kept for no more than 24 hours.
Service providers
Google (Gemini API) translates text for Flural Cloud. DigitalOcean hosts Flural's server. Apple provides purchases, App Attest and DeviceCheck. None of them receive your documents.
Downloads and other websites
Voices are downloaded from Hugging Face, and Free Library books from the source you open. Like any website, those services see the request and your IP address, under their own privacy policies.
Permissions
The camera is used only when you scan pages, and the photos stay on your device. Your Apple Music library is read only if you pick a song as background sound. Books are added to Spotlight on your device; notes are added only if you turn that on.
Deleting your Flural Cloud data
In Options → Translation → Flural Cloud, choose “Delete my Flural Cloud data”. This removes the device link and ends access to its Cloud account. Purchase and usage records are retained. Unused credits are lost, and your App Store subscription is not cancelled.
Children
Flural is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change with it, and anything that sends text to a new destination will ask you first in the app.
